Solar Systems

We have this field in my local town that is dedicated to solar energy. Whenever people talk about it they call it the solar system, and for the longest time when I was young I thought they meant the solar system in space. It makes sense because if you’ve ever seen a field of solar panels, it looks like some sort of futuristic space station that you’d see when humans colonise Mars. That’s what I used to think when I was younger.

I mean, what was I supposed to think when I heard people talking about the 500kW solar system we had one block away from our house? My mind was bound to run wild. Even to this day I’m not convinced that solar energy isn’t something we’ve stolen from space. I guess technically it is, seeing as solar energy comes from the sun, but I’m more talking about the actual solar panels themselves. They look way high tech to be human made. That’s the type of technology that aliens use to spy on humans. I’m almost sure of it… even though I would never tell anyone about my suspicions.

I remember, when I was little I used to have dreams about being trapped in the four-hundred acre field of solar panels. I used to dream that I was being turned into commercial solar power in Melbourne, which is the city closest to my hometown. Like seriously, I dreamt that an alien was trying to capture me to turn me into solar energy which would then be used to power the whole city. It was one of my most common dreams, and prompted me to steer clear of the solar panel field for most of my adolescence.

It’s funny how much our dreams reflect our subconscious. I still wonder to this day whether or not that field by my old house has any connection to aliens. I sometimes think that it was this big secret that every adult in town knew about and they were just waiting for the right time to tell us kids.
