Improved evidence bags

security bagsOur police station is in one of the more challenging towns in Victoria. We’re right near the power station, the air hums with promise, the houses are cheap, and we attract the toughest members of society here. We had to start thinking of ways to improve that. One thing we did was bring in security bags. These bags are tamper evident bags that show up with marks if anyone tries to mess with them if they’re not following protocol and doing their job on the straight and narrow. In fact, I heard that in America one of our their officers got busted trying to smuggle substances out of an evidence bag. He was suspended from work obviously and had to go to court to face charges. I found the story to be rather upsetting and disappointing, I hate to hear people letting down the good name of the Police. We have a duty and a code to follow and I don’t take that lightly.

We’re looking at changing more of our protocol including only giving keys to the officers higher up in the food chain and those with more responsibility who are trusted members of the community. But then again, you never really can tell. Funds have been allocated for high quality postage bags, things are on the up and up. We have to be a shining example to the town, leading by example. Just because this area is of the lower social economic tier doesn’t mean the people don’t deserve our respect. We’re careful when collecting evidence to always use the security bags and tamper evident seals so there can be no question as to the integrity of the case. I’m proud to be a member and am dedicating to making the world a better place. I just hope there are more people across Australia in law enforcement that believe the same.
