Suddenly, Everyone’s Competent

aluminium canopyLook, I’ll be the first to admit that we’re not the best construction company in the city. Maybe it’s the serious problem with lateness, or the fact that we can’t seem to give even a rough estimate without it going either incredibly under or incredibly over. That’s on me, because I’m the boss and I give the estimates…my bad. But one thing I am pretty happy with at the moment is how my guys have been putting together their aluminium canopies. Melbourne is getting rainy and we need to protect our tools from the elements.

Lately, the number of incidents with wet tools has dropped to zero. I’m almost considering stopping my habit of checking every little joint, because in recent times they’ve all been great. I guess the tool boxes are making the tools safer to handle.  Sturdy platforms, firm ladders, and nothing really seems to have changed. I took it up with the guys so I could congratulate them for finally pulling their act together…and they did TAKE my compliments…but they also seemed really confused. Almost like they had no clue what was going on recently. That makes me confused and maybe a little suspicious.

We’re practically infamous for minor workplace injuries, because I’m too soft on hiring. I haven’t switched up the staff, and I haven’t switched up our equipment except for buying a few aluminium toolboxes for the guys . Unless I’m going around and fixing everything as a kind of motor-memory thing and just not noticing (or I’m doing it in my sleep) I’m totally stumped. Maybe it just took that long to click? I guess, but that’s the thing about removeable service bodies: they’re easy to assemble to begin with. If they didn’t get it then, they shouldn’t just all of a sudden get it now. So weird…Either way I can’t complain about having a safer workplace. I take full credit either way.
